London and the immigrant visa pause

Relayed 14 October: the four 1 October K-1 refusals were 221(g)s rather than denials (two students with a joint sponsor earning over 200k, one homeowner on about 70k with insurance and no debt), and K-1s interviewed on 6 October were approved. An immigrant-visa applicant says the post is not working in chronological order. K-1 public charge refusals are being reported, relayed on 12 October: a K-1 interviewed 1 October was refused on public-charge grounds despite a petitioner earning over 65k with a home and insurance ready, after the fiance's own finances were questioned; one telling says four of four interviews that day, the first after the training, ended the same way, and observers say beneficiaries' savings, debts and Universal Credit use are weighed regardless of the petitioner's income. Rescheduled pause cases are being interviewed: a spouse first interviewed in January had its rescheduled interview on 9 October and left with a 221(g) for an updated I-864, tax transcript and W-2, passport kept. Reschedules continue (10 September CR1 to 21 October, 16 September IR1 to 27 October, September K-1s to 23 and 26 October, relayed); the 8 October K-1 was turned away. Relayed from a K-1 group: interviews held since 1 October are running about half approved, half not, with no leniency for young couples. Approvals: the 8 July case re-interviewed 2 October has its passport ready; a 6 October approval on a rough savings figure; an O-1 in a white 221(g) from 3 September went Issued 30 September after the passport was recalled. A UK spouse who had claimed UK benefits while working was approved after the public-charge additions; she credits the petitioner's high earnings, an established home and US medical insurance (date not stated).
